Meet Paul

A horticulturist, not just a gardener

Love Your Garden was established in 2023 by Paul, a horticulturist with years of hands-on experience and a love of guiding people on their journey to love their garden. A gardener keeps a space tidy. A horticulturist understands why plants thrive, and builds that knowledge into every job, from a single hedge to a whole property.

i

Soil first

Healthy soil grows healthy plants. Weed control, mulching and soil improvement come before planting, so everything that goes in has the best start.

ii

Right plant, right place

Trees, shrubs and flowers chosen for your light, shelter and soil, so they flourish with less work and fewer replacements.

iii

Pruning with purpose

Timing and technique matter. Cuts are made to protect flowering, keep growth strong and respect nesting birds.

iv

A plan for every season

Gardens change month by month. Work is planned around the year so your outdoor space always looks its best.

For every kind of property

How each service lifts every space, from home to business

Horticulture is not only for private gardens. Choose your type of property to see what each of our six services does for it.

Homes

A garden is the largest room of the house and the first thing anyone sees. Cared for properly, it adds enjoyment every day and lifts how the whole property looks and feels.

Garden refresh

Gives a tired garden new structure and planting so the space is easier to use and enjoy, whatever your budget.

Clean-ups

Clears clutter, green waste and grime so patios, paths and forgotten corners can be used again.

Timber care

Keeps gates, sheds and fences sound and presentable, and protected against Irish weather.

Plant care

Hedges kept tidy and trees healthy and sized to suit the space, with better light and more privacy.

Flower beds

Colour across the seasons from plants chosen for your soil, light and exposure.

Lawn care

A thicker, greener lawn that stands up to children, pets and a wet winter.

Businesses

Customers, clients and staff judge a business before they reach the door. A cared-for frontage signals a cared-for business.

Garden refresh

A smarter frontage, car park edge or courtyard that reflects your brand, delivered within your budget.

Clean-ups

Power washing of entrances and paving, and clearance of waste and clutter around the premises.

Timber care

Gates, fencing and sheds repaired and treated so the whole site always looks looked after.

Plant care

Neat hedging and trees that frame the entrance, screen service areas and keep signage visible.

Flower beds

Year-round colour at reception and entrances, with weed control to keep it neat between visits.

Lawn care

Crisp mowing and edging for grounds, frontages and green space.

BEFORE AFTER
Plate I. Garden refresh
01

Garden renovation & refurbishment

Renovation begins with a full assessment of the existing space, covering structure, planting, surfaces, boundaries and lawn. Paul then recommends phased improvements that retain what works, replace what does not and are scaled to your budget.

  • Renovation scaled to suit every budget and brief
  • Reshaping, clearing and replanting of tired or overgrown areas
  • Plant selection matched to soil, light and exposure
  • Phased delivery to spread cost and limit disruption
  • Finishing works including mulching, edging and border definition

Most gardens do not need starting from scratch. Renovation keeps the plants and features that work, replaces what does not, and gives the space a clear purpose and a consistent look.

02

Site clearance & garden reinstatement

Thorough clearance returns a neglected or cluttered outdoor area to a usable, presentable condition and prepares the ground for planting and ongoing maintenance, whether for a family garden, a shared courtyard or a business frontage.

  • Decluttering and removal of unwanted items
  • Garden waste removal and disposal
  • Power washing of paths, patios, walls and hard surfaces
  • Repainting of outdoor features and structures

Clearing overgrowth and debris lets light and air reach your plants, removes places for weeds and pests to hide, and makes every later job quicker and more effective.

03

Timber fencing, gate & shed maintenance

Gates, sheds and fences provide security, privacy and shelter. Timely repair and protective treatment extends their service life and keeps the property secure and well presented.

  • Repair of gates, sheds and fencing
  • Replacement of damaged boards, rails and posts
  • Preservative treatment and protective finishes
  • Colour and finish selected to suit the property

Irish weather is hard on timber. Treating it before it fails costs far less than replacing it, and it keeps your boundaries secure and tidy.

04

Tree, hedge & shrub pruning

Correct pruning at the right time of year maintains plant health, encourages flowering and fruiting, and keeps growth in proportion to the space, from dwarf trees to hedging and shrubs.

  • Dwarf tree pruning
  • Hedge cutting and shaping, scheduled around the bird nesting season
  • Shrub shaping and pruning for form and flowering
  • Ongoing monitoring of plant health through the seasons

Pruning is timing as much as technique. Cutting at the right time for each plant protects flowering and fruiting, keeps growth strong and avoids disturbing nesting birds.

05

Planting design & soil management

Planting schemes are designed for the site and built on healthy soil, delivering seasonal interest with manageable upkeep. Plants, shrubs and trees are chosen for the conditions of each bed.

  • Planting of flowers, shrubs and trees
  • Weed control and bed maintenance
  • Soil improvement and mulching to retain moisture
  • Irrigation where required
  • Seasonal planting for year-round colour

Beds succeed when the soil is healthy and the plants suit their spot. Mulch suppresses weeds and holds moisture, and a good planting plan means less work and more colour.

06

Lawn care & maintenance

A year-round lawn programme keeps turf dense, even and cleanly edged, whether for a family garden or commercial grounds.

  • Mowing scheduled to the season and grass condition
  • Edging of beds, paths and borders
  • Seeding of thin and bare areas
  • Seasonal feeding at the right times of year

A good lawn is built through the year: regular mowing, clean edges, overseeding in autumn and feeding when the grass needs it most.

Frequently asked questions

Where do you offer gardening services?

Love Your Garden is based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary and covers towns and villages across County Tipperary, County Kilkenny and County Waterford, as well as New Ross in County Wexford and Galbally and Ballylanders in County Limerick. See the areas section above or call Paul on 089 211 5292 to confirm your address.

Do you work for businesses as well as homes?

Yes. Love Your Garden looks after private homes and businesses. Call Paul on 089 211 5292 to talk through your premises.

What is the difference between a gardener and a horticulturist?

A gardener carries out the day-to-day care of a garden. A horticulturist also understands plant science, including soil health, choosing the right plant for the right place, and pruning at the right time. Paul brings both to every job.

What garden services do you provide?

Our core horticultural services are garden renovation and refurbishment, site clearance and reinstatement, timber fencing, gate and shed maintenance, tree, hedge and shrub pruning, planting design and soil management, and lawn care and maintenance.

Can you work to my budget?

Yes. Garden refresh projects are delivered to suit all budgets and needs. Call Paul on 089 211 5292 to talk through what you want done.

Do you prune trees?

Dwarf tree pruning is part of our overall plant care, and trees, shrubs and plants feature in our planting schemes. For larger trees, call Paul to talk through what is suitable.

When is the best time to cut a hedge?

Birds nest in hedges from March to August, so larger cuts are best planned for the colder months. Light shaping can be done at other times where no nests are present. Call Paul to plan the right timing for your hedges.

Do you remove garden waste?

Garden waste disposal is included in our clean-up service, along with decluttering and power washing.

Can you help improve my soil and control weeds?

Yes. Our flower bed service covers expert planting, weed control, increased soil health and mulching, so beds stay healthier and need less work between visits.

Can you repair and treat my fence, gate or shed?

Yes. Timber care covers the repair and treatment of gates, sheds and fencing, which protects timber from Irish weather and extends its life.

How do I get in touch?
